Our Story

Three Generations Rooted in the Northern Neck

“What began with one family building a life in the Northern Neck continues with three generations helping others do the same.”

Bragg & Company’s story began in 1974, when Bob and Barbara Bragg moved from Richmond to Irvington with their sons, Bo and Mark. Bob, a pharmacist with an entrepreneurial heart, purchased White Stone Pharmacy after discovering the area on fishing trips with his father-in-law. In addition to being a pharmacist, Bob was also a contractor. His love for the Chesapeake Bay soon led him to invest in waterfront tracts and develop communities throughout the Northern Neck. Early projects included RiverView along Windmill Point Road, followed by Cedar Pointe and Westview in the Weems area, laying the foundation for what would become Bragg & Company.

Bob wasn’t the only entrepreneur in the family. Throughout the 1980s, Barbara owned and operated Peppers, a well-known clothing boutique in White Stone where she built lasting relationships throughout the community. As the development business expanded, Barbara sold Peppers and earned her real estate license in 1987. She went on to earn her broker’s license, formally establishing the real estate and brokerage side of Bragg & Co. What began in a model home in Rivers Landing grew into an independent brokerage built on local knowledge, strong relationships, and a genuine love for the community. Bob and Barbara later established an office on South Main Street in Kilmarnock where Bragg & Co. remained for more than 20 years.

Over the years, the next generation joined the family business. Mark expanded the family’s construction expertise to Charleston, South Carolina, where he and his wife, interior designer Alix, specialize in custom homes and design. Bo ultimately took the helm in the Northern Neck as owner and Principal Broker, alongside his wife, Camille, continuing to expand Bragg & Company across real estate, development, construction, and property management. The Bragg & Co. office currently resides in the heart of Irvington where the team is actively involved in the community. You can find the Bragg team serving hot chocolate at special holiday events like Illuminate Irvington, hosting or attending networking events for the Lancaster by the Bay Chamber of Commerce, meeting every Thursday for family-like staff meetings, and much more.

Today, with Bo’s son Boyd joining the business, Bragg & Company proudly spans three generations – continuing a family legacy rooted in the Northern Neck for more than 50 years.

“Local means being woven into the fabric of the Northern Neck where the Chesapeake Bay and small-town charm shape our lives. It’s knowing our neighbors, supporting community events, and preserving the Chesapeake Bay’s heritage. At Bragg & Company, local is personal.”
